To start with, let me define the keywords in the content of this essay: Education is an hierarchical process in which skills and ideas are being learnt, either formally or informally. Likewise ‘future’ can simply be defined as events, occurrence and activities that are yet to be realistic.
Truly creating ideas, being skillful and innovative is enough to build a better future for all but due to inefficient planning and commitment of both the student and the educator has made us seen the adverse effect of education in nation building. Inappropriate grooming from parents and guardian also constitute to the devastation per-se. Having identified the cause of the adverse effect then I hereby suggest and proffer solutions which could be seen as a gradual process keeping education on the path towards building a better future for all.
The power embedded in a peer group: Once upon a time my mum once advised me to always remember the son of who I was before choosing a peer group; where my peers would keep me going with their motivations, support and enthusiasm. She also reiterated that I should join a peer group that would make positive impact in my life. I was known to be an average student lacking both writing and speaking skill during my Junior Secondary School days. I later proceed to a boarding school which is one of the seven science schools in my city. At first it was awkward and looked absurd for me to leave my school for a new one, it wasn't an easy task for me.
It was in my penultimate class in my new school that I noticed some set of students always studying together in which one of them was nicknamed "Amazing" by one of our prominent teacher then. I was fascinated by their activities which prompted me to join them hoping that the decision would be the best for me and also remembering my motherly advice. What fascinated me most about the group is that whenever we were called upon to come and eat one of them would bring up an issue after which others would lend their own ideas, which is often beneficial to them morally and academically. Also during prep class, they would all read extensively in order to share what they have gained so far.
Afterwards, series of questions would be asked in which everybody must have an idea and this as well would prompt some of them lagging behind to read overnight so as to meet up with others. Fortunately, on joining them I cultivated the habit of reading frequently and extensively, writing up articles frequently in other to share ideas and lastly we wrote WASSCE and everyone had credit and distinction. How I wished I had joined the group earlier on.
Peer group with the right orientation from parents, teachers and the society as a whole would also motivate them to work hand-in-hand so as to bring up a nice idea to develop their skills. Combining several ideas, findings and researches would eventually bring about an innovation that would be generally accepted by the public. However, an attribute of a human being is to imitate a nice idea from the rightful minded. Eventually, the right orientation and thought would start spreading across the society just like the way the word of God spreads.
Finally, I hereby proffer the right reorientation of our peer group (the youth) as a panacea towards building a better future for all.
