Is Liverpool's Mario Balotelli set to follow in the footsteps of Luis Suarez?
Perhaps only Mario Balotelli could send out an 'anti-racism' message on Instagram, and land himself with an FA charge for anti-Semitism.
That is the scenario facing the Liverpool striker, after he posted a viral image of video game character Super Mario, with references to various cultures, claiming he 'grabs coins like a Jew'.
Balotelli deleted the social media post, and defended himself stating his mum is Jewish, but the FA are likely to take a dim view with it already reported they are investigating the matter.
The Times newspaper report: "The Liverpool forward, faces the threat of a five-match suspension after the Football Association opened an investigation last night into a social-media message of his with antisemitic content."
Balotelli was bought to replace Luis Suarez, and on the pitch he has failed miserably so far, failing to score a single Premier Leaguegoal.
Off the field he may inadvertently be taking it too literally if he cops a ban, with Suarez suspended for eight, and then 10 games for offences relating to an alleged racist comment to Patrice Evra, and biting Branislav Ivanovic.
The FA are currently investigation Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan for anti-Semitic comments, made in a recent newspaper interview.
Could Balotelli really get a five game ban? Will the FA be lenient?
