The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) yesterday explained why some states got more registration centers than others.
The board said some state governments and private partners have built additional centers in some states.
The head of information of the board, Mr. Fabian Benjamin told Daily Trust that states particularly in the south have gotten more centers because many private partners in the area have keyed into the investment.
Benjamin said the examination centers introduced by the board last year was aimed at reducing exam malpractices and better the standard of JAMB examinations.
He added that JAMB has embarked on regulated registration exercise with a view to consolidating registration processes, saying the board want give Nigerians the best examinations.
Benjamin said the Federal Government intends to build one center in each senatorial zone nationwide and then encourage state governments and private partners to build more so that to meet the needs of the people.
He pointed out that already Katsina State government has constructed one center each in its three senatorial zones, while Niger State promised to build four in each senatorial zones of the state.
